For the fifty-fifth edition of the GeoGearHeads we spoke with Bells Angels about NFC and his "Can you NFC me?" GC3QBN7 cache. He recommends Android users check out the "NFC TagWriter by NXP" ("NFC TagInfo by NXP" for reading) and "Tasker" apps. More discussion about using NFC can be found in our previous Beta.47 and Beta.48 shows. We also heard from TheWoodenRadio on last week's discussion of wool socks. |

Our ninth Randomize edition played out for the fifty-fourth edition of the GeoGearHeads. We started with the news from Garmin of their new Oregon 600 series GPSRs. GPS Tracklog included some video in their CES 2013 – Hands on, videos & reactions post. Next we covered options for TeamOrville who was looking to read a GPX file on a Mac. We mentioned running GSAK (her usual program on Windows) through Apple's included Boot Camp virtual machines (e.g. VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop for Mac, and VMWare Fusion). We also mentioned loading through GPSBabel (featured on GGH Beta.30). Then there were two options through the Mac App Store; Geocache Manager (publisher website) and iCaching (publisher website). We also heard from UnNamed Mike asking about Geocaching.com Reviewer tools. Then we wrapped with a question about hiking boots from Nighthawk700 and a response from debaere. |
